Trustee
Dr Simon Harrod
I am Dr Simon Harrod and I trained as an anaesthetist in London. I was a consultant anaesthetist at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in1996 and Medical Director at the Royal London Hospital from in 2015 to 2022.
After retirement my wife, Kate and I moved to Amesbury and immediately felt warmly welcomed by the local community. I have been a Trustee at the Amesbury History Centre since 2023 and successful for numerous grant applications. Kate also volunteers at Amesbury History Centre. In 2024 I was appointed as a Non-Executive Director at Royal United Hospital Bath. My hobbies include cycling, fly fishing and keeping my kit car on the road.

Treasurer
Andy Doig
I think I was asked to get involved initially as Secretary to the Board and it was soon apparent that what was needed was my financial experience. I became Treasurer and a Trustee about 3 years ago and helped in the run up to the current History Centre opening in August 2023. Since then I have also become Co-Chair and continue as Treasurer.
My family settled in Amesbury during my last Army posting in 2009. I was a Chartered Management Accountant in the AGC (SPS). Since then I have been working at The Bank of England. Once settled in our own home I was keen to get involved in the community and initially I was a school governor at Amesbury CofE Primary School for a few years.
Being a Trustee for Amesbury History Centre suits me down to the ground, since I have developed a passion for archaeology as a volunteer with the Blick Mead Trust on digs in Amesbury. Amesbury History Centre is run by a fantastic group of volunteers and I think we are really making a difference in the town. I enjoy running events, talking to our visitors about Amesbury's history and getting involved across the town with the Council and Stonehenge Chamber.

Trustee
Cally Langhurst
Hi, I’m Cally, I bring a mixture of skills to my role as Trustee. I am currently Chair of Council of British Archaeology Wessex (CBA Wessex). I have been on the committee for CBA Wessex for over a decade as the Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC) Co-ordinator.
I have been involved with YAC as a leader for nearly 25 years. I am very keen on encouraging the future generation of archaeologists as well as engaging with all those who already have the interest and passion for the subject.
I have a BA(Hons) from the University of Bristol in Archaeological studies and I was very lucky to have taken part in several excavations. Most of which were with Time Team or under the guidance of Wessex Archaeology. I've been a resident of Amesbury for over 25 years now and very much interested in the history and archaeology of the area.
Despite working full time I find the time to be Trustee of Amesbury History Centre because I want to share my passion for the subject with the local community.

Trustee
Angela Bayliss
I became a Trustee of Amesbury History Centre in January 2024. For about 6 months before that I volunteered in the cafe and gift shop as a Front of House Volunteer. I have continued to do both because I really enjoy meeting our visitors.
At school I was always very interested in history and read history at Cambridge University; that was after a short service commission in the army. I spent 3 years in the Women's Royal Army Corps and met my husband whilst serving.
We settled in Amesbury after my husband left the army. That's when I decided to study for a PGCE (teacher training) at King Alfred's College (now the University of Winchester). I taught a variety of age groups in different schools from Reception age up to Year 11, including GCSE History and Religious Studies.
That was almost 40 years ago and our four children attended local schools. I love living in Amesbury and am involved in various local groups including the Friends of Amesbury Abbey, the Amesbury Society, a governor at Kiwi Primary School in Bulford, am on the Parochial Church Council of Bulford St Leonard's and occasionally invigilate exams in local schools. I like to remain busy and have a black labrador, who I enjoy walking in between all of my activities. Being a Trustee for Amesbury History Centre is good fun and I meet so many great people.
